Objective
Peering Asia is a conference for peering professionals to gather and negotiate mutual arrangements, share operational success stories, and discuss issues that we might solve as an industry. The workshop proposal is intended to address several needs we’ve discovered through organizing Peering Asia in the past few years.
- For newcomers: There are many opportunities to learn about BGP, but an opportunity to learn about peering is relatively rare. Peering Asia is one of the biggest peering conferences in APAC, and considering its neutral nature, having a training session aligns well with our intent to serve the wider APAC peering community. A training opportunity by peering experts helps resolve misunderstandings and helps the next generation engineers become better peering professionals.
- For non-technical: We see more commercial and marketing teams take interest in peering, but they often think peering conferences are the IP version of a capacity conference. An educational opportunity helps set the right expectations for the audience such as sponsor sales teams, to understand more about the conference and peering.
